WHO WE ARE

We strengthen internal capabilities of entities so that they can build larger and stronger movements with increased capacity for impact

Impact Through Growth (ITG) Community

We are an agile, dynamic and flexible community of Amnesty staff who are fiercely passionate and committed about achieving Human Rights impact. We believe in the power that working together has in helping us improve our capabilities to achieve impact and become a stronger movement.  To this end we design new solutions for deep-rooted problems in our movement and aim to share the emerging expertise as wide as possible with our peers, for the benefit of all.

Our Work:

We are section –centric and section-led, which means our innovative solutions are designed by AI entities for AI entities. We formulate solutions informed by a deep understanding of the challenges we face in the local contexts and produce answers that are tailored, agile, replicable and have proven to be successful. We focus on helping entities build larger and stronger movements, and we do this by strengthening internal capabilities, such as digital infrastructure and skills, strategic planning and ways of working, we care about maximizing our resources and achieving sustainability, which means we focus equally on growth, engagement and impact of our supporters.

In the Impact Through Growth (ITG) community, we:

  • Help transfer innovative solutions from entity-to-entity
  • Provide flexible workshops that are tailored to your specific needs and context
  • Promote new ways of working within the movement
  • Share our knowledge, expertise and learning
  • Help entities become more resilient and sustainable
  • Work collectively and support each other
  • Identify new ways of achieving human rights impact by mobilising larger movements

Our History:

In 2017, a single person was tasked with leading supporters’ growth at the global IS. Initially working with a small group of national entities, the focus was on helping entities grow the size of their supporter base. By end of 2024, the initiative has evolved into a close collaboration between the IS and sections that has reached 1,085,375 supporter growth and more importantly has identified new ways of achieving impact through mobilising large movements.

While the early focus was on supporter growth, by 2022 national entities recognized that investing in growth resulted in unexpected benefits that span from the development of technological infrastructure to innovation in ways of working and achieving impact. This led to the decision to evolve into a peer-to-peer community with the potential of providing movement wide benefits by transferring expertise and innovation from section-to-section.

Our Vision for the Future:

To become an Impact LAB for the movement — a center of knowledge and innovation where the movement can share expertise on building and sustaining larger, stronger, and more diverse movements. A space for fostering cultural shifts, solving challenges creatively, connecting and learning through peer-to-peer collaboration, embracing new technologies, and maximizing our collective resources and expertise.
